Our new venture

– a future prospect for material recycling of plastic packaging in Sweden.

Support from Klimatklivet and Nestlé enables a new smart plant for plastic recycling.

We are immensely pleased to announce that the last piece of the puzzle is now in place for us to be able to realize our plans for Europe’s most modern recycling plant for plastic packaging. Granted support from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s investment support program “Klimatklivet” and a sponsor agreement from Nestlé have highly contributed to this now being a reality. The plant will be situated in Ängelholm in the south of Sweden. Tests will be run during the second half of 2021 and the plant is expected to be in full operation from the 1st of January 2022.

New technology – increased material recycling for Sweden

This is of course a great day for TMR and our partners. Above all, it is an even more important day for heightened material recycling in Sweden. This because the new plant will use a completely new technology to recycle all complex flexible plastics that cannot be material recycled today, but is burned instead. Together we will reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and, as a result, our country’s climate footprint.

At TMR, we consider this establishment a great step towards our vision of full circularity. In addition, the new plant will enable more Swedish companies to join in and make sure their plastic packaging gets a new life.

We are incredibly proud of the fact that Nestlé has chosen to contribute to bring this about – and that they see realization of the new technology as an important part of their global sustainability work.

The financial support from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and Nestlé were the last significant pieces of the puzzle needed to put this venture into effect.

This great news will take TMR into the new year with a spirit of confidence and we promise to keep you informed during this exciting journey towards a more sustainable future.
