Below is what you need to know now. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\"><strong>Background PPWR<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h5> <\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\"><strong>The regulatory package aims to:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Tackling the increase in packaging waste generated in the EU<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Harmonizing the internal market for packaging<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Promoting the circular economy<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>TMR helps affiliated producers to meet the requirements set by the PPWR. In this work we focus on: <\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Design for recycling<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Packaging minimization<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Packaging with recycled material<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Correct sorting symbols<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\"><strong>What happens next?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2024<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 115%;\">Decision on PPWR is adopted.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2025-2028<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Producers need to identify which packaging will be prohibited in 2030. TMR assists producers in this work. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">EU standards for labeling will be implemented on an ongoing basis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2026-2030<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Develop new packaging to replace the unauthorized ones. TMR assists in setting requirements and with advice. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2029-2030<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Unauthorized packaging is phased out.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2030<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Introduced: Criteria (A, B, C) for recyclability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Requirement of no more than 50% empty space in transport, group and e-commerce packaging.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Requirement for recycled material in plastic packaging (10-35%).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Reuse targets come into force (&gt;10%).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2038<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Additional recyclability requirements for packaging.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\"><strong>2040<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Increased requirements for recycled content in packaging.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\"><strong><br>What packaging will be banned in 2030?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">From 2030, packaging that is not at least 70% recyclable will be banned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">Plastic packaging must contain recycled material if at least:  <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">30% for contact-sensitive plastic packaging mainly made of PET and single-use plastic beverage bottles.  <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">10% for contact-sensitive plastic packaging made of plastic material other than PET.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">35% for plastic packaging other than those above.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\">On 16 December, the European Commission organized a full-day briefing on the PPWR, with Q&amp;A sessions at the end of each block. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\">This was recorded and both the agenda and the recording are available via this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/webcast.ec.europa.eu\/packaging-stakeholder-engagement-24-12-16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/webcast.ec.europa.eu\/packaging-stakeholder-engagement-24-12-16<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\"><strong>Is something unclear?
