{"id":897,"date":"2024-01-03T15:59:02","date_gmt":"2024-01-03T14:59:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tmr.se\/2024\/01\/03\/the-new-order-is-here\/"},"modified":"2024-12-17T13:35:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T12:35:00","slug":"the-new-order-is-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tmr.se\/en\/2024\/01\/03\/the-new-order-is-here\/","title":{"rendered":"The new order is here!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of January 1, municipalities took over the responsibility for packaging collection, marking a new chapter in producer responsibility for packaging. <\/span>This is now:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Municipalities are responsible for the collection of packaging waste from households and businesses that have waste management co-located with households.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The municipalities receive compensation from the producers, through producer responsibility organizations (PRO), as decided by Natuv\u00e5rdsverket (the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency). <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The municipalities transport the packaging to a collection point. There, producers, through PROs such as TMR, take over for transportation and recycling.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Producers of single-use plastic products pay a littering fee to Naturv\u00e5rdsverket (the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>What&#8217;s next?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On January 1, 2026, municipalities must collect packaging waste in popular public places (squares and parks).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By January 1, 2027, municipalities must have introduced kerbside collection of packaging waste from households. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read more at Avfall Sverige: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.avfallsverige.se\/for-medlemmar\/forpackningsinsamling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.avfallsverige.se\/for-medlemmar\/forpackningsinsamling\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are you unsure about your role as a producer under the new rules?
