Contributing to sustainable industry and innovation is a priority focus area in TMR’s sustainability work. We will continuously improve by investing in innovation and technology that supports improved packaging management and high customer satisfaction. We work closely with our customers to understand their needs and tailor solutions that contribute to their sustainability and business objectives.
In 2022, TMR continued to work hard to develop innovative solutions and help our customers find smart ways to contribute to a more sustainable world.
We helped producers design for recycling
Our ability to recycle is greatly influenced by the design of packaging.
Our role in the value chain makes packaging design guidance a particularly important task. In 2022, we supported around 40 producer clients with various issues related to design for recycling.
We developed sorting
In 2022, we initiated a joint project for sorting PP film together with Stena Recycling in Lanna. We also develop sorting solutions and outlets for PET trays with our partners in Germany. TMR Production also launched several development projects at its paper and metal sorting facilities.
We developed recycling
In 2022, Omni Polymers was inaugurated to recycle plastic packaging waste from households that was previously incinerated. We also accelerated efforts to ensure that collected packaging waste is recycled as much as possible into raw material for new consumer packaging.. The aim is to supply high quality post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic raw material in HDPE, LDPE, PP and film quality PP to consumer packaging manufacturers.
Many are using fiber-based materials – paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard – to replace plastic packaging, often with a bio-based barrier on the inside. To ensure that these fiber-based materials are recyclable, in 2022 we collaborated with, among others, Fiskeby Board, which receives samples and conducts tests that clearly show whether the material is actually recyclable.
TMR’s goals in sustainable industry, innovation and customer satisfaction
- Develop new technologies and innovations that support sustainable packaging solutions and recycling processes.
- Establish new strategic partnerships to support its own and its customers’ sustainability and business objectives.
- Certified to ISO standards 9001 (quality), 14 001 (environment) and 45 001 (health and safety).
“In 2022, we developed several innovative collection solutions. We among other things, stranded a new collection service for rural areas: TMR-Return. Together with local enthusiasts, we were able to create more packaging collection points throughout Sweden. Another project was the Pick-Up Service in the Stockholm archipelago, where TMR offered households on islands with no fixed road connection an easier way to sort their packaging. In the summer of 2022 alone, we collected more than 3700 kg of metal, paper and plastic packaging from these islands”,
Louise Thörn, TMR fundraising manager
